Callao, August 17th 2007
To Parish priests and parish administrators
To Schools’ Directors
from Callao Diocese
Fellow Citizens:
In order to help the families and victims of the awful earthquake that occurred in Ica, Chincha, Pisco, Cañete, Yauyos, etc. Cáritas del Perú has been designated by the Episcopal Conference to receive and give out the donations from parishes and other Church institutions and civil society
Callao’s Church wants to participate in this solidarity campaign with the generous help from our parish communities, social and educational institutions.
With this purpose, we want to ask your faithful followers
to help us with this campaign. They can either do so by donating money
, food clothes, etc. Sundays’ collections of next Sundays, must
be motivated by this purpose and in this way we will help our fellow
and most affected citizens from the south.
Cáritas del Perú has been specially designated to organize
and coordinate this campaign. People’s most urgent needs are:
blankets, non-perishable food, water, clean and well conserved clothes,
and medicines.
All these donations apart from money, Hill be reived by Callao Cáritas or if you want, they can be taken to Cáritas del Perú Storehouses in Calle Omicrón 492, Carmen de la Legua, Callao (between block 58 of Av. Colonial in Parque Internacional de Industrias y Comercio).
As usual with money donations, these must be delivered directly to Callao´s Bishopric offices.
Lets’ get together in a special and permanent prayer campaign to pray to Our Lord for all the people who died in the different cities and towns in August 15th’s earthquake.
We shall also pray for the suffering, wounded and traumatized victims and for the thousands of families that have had their peace affected. For all of them we request with fervor the protection from Señor de Luren and Virgin María del Carmen, our people’s mother.
I give you my blessings and affection,
+ Miguel Irizar Campos, C.P.
